LASIK MD Laser Eye Surgery – All-Laser LASIK

LASIK MD is pleased to offer patients All-Laser LASIK. Certain patients who were not previously eligible for standard LASIK may now be eligible using the All-Laser method.

The All-Laser method is a 100% blade-free approach, and involves using a femtosecond laser (instead of the microkeratome associated with traditional LASIK) to create your corneal flap. Using this laser, tiny pulses of laser light pass harmlessly through the outer portion of your cornea to create a thin, hinged flap. The cornea is the clear front part of the eye, and the flap is a thin protective layer created on the surface of the cornea. The flap is then lifted temporarily from the eye's surface or cornea to allow for the application of laser energy beneath it. The laser reshapes the cornea for vision correction.

This innovative technology is also well suited for creating uniquely shaped corneal incisions for corneal transplant surgery.

In both the traditional and All-Laser procedures, the protective flap is then replaced for healing. Both procedures provide the same excellent outcomes. Like in traditional LASIK, your corneal flap can be made quickly—it takes only about 15-30 seconds per eye; with the entire procedure taking about 10 minutes, including preparation time.

IntraLase FS Laser

The IntraLase FS laser represents a breakthrough in the field of ultrafast laser science. It is the first and most accurate bladeless laser technology available for corneal flap creation.

As the IntraLase FS laser moves back and forth across your eye, a uniform layer of bubbles forms just below the corneal surface at a specific depth and position within your eye that is determined by the doctor.

The flap is created by gently separating the tissue where these bubbles have formed.
