Educational Background
Dr. Michel Chevalier studied medicine and ophthalmology at
Université Bordeaux 2 in France, and did his internship in
ophthalmology at Centre Hospitalier Régional de
Bordeaux.
Dr. Chevalier studied vitreoretinal surgery at the University of
California at San Francisco (UCSF) Medical School, and the Summit
Medical Center in Oakland. He also studied refractive surgery at
the Jules Stein Institute at UCLA Medical School. Dr. Chevalier
began studying laser vision correction surgery in the U.S. in 1995,
and completed his training with doctors Avi Wallerstein, Mark
Cohen, Pierre Demers and Mounir Bashour of LASIK MD in Montreal and
Toronto.
Refractive Experience
Dr. Chevalier performed eye surgery at the Centre Hospitalier
Territorial de Tahiti for four years, and has worked in private
practice at Tahiti’s Paofai Clinic since 1990. Dr. Chevalier
has performed thousands of refractive surgical procedures, and he
has been performing anterior segment surgery for over 20
years.
Accomplishments and Awards
Dr. Chevalier and his associate Dr. Jean-Philippe Lebrère
created LASIK MD Tahiti, the only refractive laser surgical centre
in French Polynesia.
